BLEACH 476 - THE LOST
http://mangastream.com/read/bleach/67588809/1

I
think the most interesting development this chapter is Ginjo's little inner turmoil. He seems to be upset personally that Ichigo didn't agree to join him, and saw it as some form of validation for what XCUTION's done. Now I want to know what exactly happened re: Soul Society v. Ginjo. It amazes how two people can look at the same situation and have opposite reactions to it, so discerning who "broke up the marriage," so to speak, would be fun.
Remember; no tweeting Kubo until Monday.

I was kind of amused when everyone was walking off and when Rukia asked them what they were doing Byakuya was essentially, "We're done. Ichigo's got things covered here."

And Kenpachi never fails to try and puncture Byakuya's bubble.

I suspect that Rukia will continue to stick around a bit to a) clear up what happened with Riruka and b) she probably wants to catch up with her friends from the Living World.

And I read Ginjo's line about them both having some Hollow in them as implicitly stating that Ichigo's mask came back with his shinigami powers (which would make sense since Shirosaki and Zangetsu were more or less fused into a single entity when he lost them).
DAlcotraz on December 7th, 2011 05:49 pm (UTC)
Question is, has his Hollow now been merged right into his outfit along with his Fullbring Powers, or did he just choose to not use the Mask in this fight? :O

Ginjo seems to be implying that his Hollow Powers are a part of his Outfit already, without a Mask, and he could create a Cero at the tip of his Blade.

But then again, Ginjo seems to be using his Human Body to fight, as he released Bankai without releasing his Soul from his Body.... O.o
DAlcotraz on December 7th, 2011 05:32 pm (UTC)
NOOOOOOO
Noooooo

I was totally betting Kenpachi was about to jump Ichigo when he was finished. Instead he's like "what are you on about, I'm just here cause I'm bored."

Awwww :(

I'm glad the idea of Soul Society considering Ichigo a threat was addressed finally. They are so callous in containing their own "potential threats" that it would only make sense for them to have crosshairs locked on a human with strong spiritual powers. Perhaps the more hands-off approach would probably be because the whole point of Gotei 13 is to protect the living so it would be counter-intuitive to persecute a living soul. Rukia's walkie-talkie outburst turned out to be a bit disappointing and a bit confusing as to when/if she knew about all this. Eh well, they'll get their heart-to-heart interrupted by interjected comedy in a few chapters.

Goddamn I ship Rukia and Ichigo even harder after this. (Also I'm getting HitsuRuki vibes for some reason?? Frak.)

Rukia looks a bit sad in her final panel. Is it because she's leaving? Argh, I hope not. But we'll probably see more of her regardless in the near future because of the whole Riruka thing, so here's hoping.
Anyway, I LOVE how her loyalty was showcased in this chapter. That's my girl!

Thank you for posting, JP. This chapter is wowza for me. I'm catching up w/comments everywhere but

BAZINGA, thank you Sensei on filling in Rukia's words--her faith in Ichigo was just as touching as Ichigo's speech last week. And ah so, this is perhaps what Urahara meant by the danger to Ichigo? Isshin knew that Ichigo stood a chance of being dogpiled by all those Shinigami should he side with Ginjou? But OF COURSE Ichigo wouldn't. Isshin believed in his son too...

but he looked worried. XD

Arc looks like it may be over but remember we're on Kubo time and there are loose threads--like, did Riruka just take a little trip to SS in Rukia (Ros called it that Rukia would unleash the Trojan horse Riruka there, lol) If Hitsu (oh he was so cute here--I know that being young, he's got all kinds of issues with SS and his support of Ichigo was sweet to see) was at the scene, is Yukio free ? With no punishment from SS?

Bookman still bleeding? ShiShi?

Urahara is going to reveal something big, you just know it.

The Rukia devotion in this chapter was heartwarming. She was drawn so beautifully too.

I love it when he's blatant with their relationship. And I love getting access to Rukia's feelings. Seeing her blatant appreciation of Ichigo is just so sjfdkslafjskf.
I'm feeling all of the shippy feelings today.

Rukia is amazing and awesome and lovely. Her faith in Ichigo never once wavered, whereas everyone else had their doubts, even Renji. Hitsugaya seems rather happy that Rukia's belief in Ichigo was proven, actually, so I guess he likes Ichigo more than he lets on :3 So much Rukia->Ichigo this chapter, it's crazy. I love when we get to see Rukia's vision of Ichigo, which, unlike some other characters' versions, is grounded in what she has seen him capable of doing.

Ichigo is strong and mature and bad-ass. Love it. He doesn't hesitate, doesn't make derpy faces or shocked faces or confused faces. He knows what he wants to do and what he believes in, and he's going to do it. Enough said. <3333 that Ichigo. At the same time, part of what makes him him, and part of his strong personal ethics, is trying to understand his enemy, which I adore about him. It's what he said to Gin - he tries to read part of his opponents' hearts.

Soul Society shows their cold, practical side but then also shows how they changed by changing their original plan due to Ichigo. Their initial plan was to use a shinigami substitute to lure Ginjou out and then discard both. But at the end of SS arc, when Ichigo saved Rukia and revealed three traitors, Ukitake gave Ichigo the badge in such a way as to make Ichigo aware that there was something else going on. So from the start, Ukitake was trying to subvert SS's plan. And it seems over time, the other shinigami, even Yamajii, started to respect what Ichigo was doing and came to change their rigid ways because of him. They questioned what Ichigo's loyalties would be once the truth came to light, but they still gave him the benefit of the doubt by contributing their power to him in the first place. Basically, they permitted him to make the choice on his own. Only Rukia was completely sure Ichigo wouldn't side with Ginjou. Not to say SS is all rainbows and sunshine, even now, but it's not the heartless group of bastards a lot of people constantly make them out to be. SS is far from perfect but they are changing.

As for Ginjou, I don't think he's upset Ichigo didn't join him. I think he's mad because he can't understand why Ichigo is trying to understand him, even after siding with SS. 'You're acting like my bud instead of yelling at me that what I'm doing is wrong.' I think Ginjou takes some pride in what he's doing, i.e. taking revenge against those who wronged him, and would feel vindicated if Ichigo bought into the 'SS system' and just wrote Ginjou off as a freak. But since Ichigo's not, it apparently feels like a slap in the face to him that Ichigo isn't letting him be content with his revenge motivation. IDK, it's a weird psychological thing. :3 (Maybe it's the translation though.)

Totally agree with your assessment of Ginjou.

I know it is the translation, but Ichigo's 'firmness'? And then him on top of a giant erect phallic thing? C'mon Kubo... at least try and be subtle...

Good chapter, aside from the actual fight between Ginjou and Ichigo being boring. Thankfully, Kubo doesn't focus on the fight a lot.

Good to know Rukia always believes in Ichigo and has faith in him.

This chapter made me like IchiRuki even more! Trust and Support is what is so dynamic about this pairing in Bleach! (*______*)

Ah~ and when did Hitsugaya know so well about how much Rukai believed in Ichigo? Is he a IchiRuki shipper> :PPPP LOL JOKES XD

While I loved this chapter, I personally found Ginjou's part in it to be the most boring, TBH. I just don't care one bit about him, and I hope the next chapter is the last we ever see of him (flashback/back-stories aside). Of all the FBers, Ginjou was the second least interesting to me (Giriko being the least). Kubo obviously likes him, but I never did, and it's far too late for that to change for me.

That aside, I loved the art and the focus on Rukia in this chapter. Granted, Ichigo was the primary focus, but Rukia got a lot of very meaningful (and beautiful) panel time. I'm pleased.

of course, the art was great, but Kubo's usual LARGE PANEL OVERDRIVE got on my nerves a little.

Can't wait...
I have been on a forum surfing high this whole day, and, maybe I'm just looking at the wrong places, but I have yet to see a single mentioning of this new chapter by ichihime forums.

ichiruki FTW? i believe so. I can't wait to see what they'll post about this, although it would almost be just as satisfying if they didn't post anything at all.

I also can't wait to see what happens when all of this cools down. Think we'll get a hug? (not likely, Tite's more subtle than that, but a fangirl can dream, can't she?)

There's only one IchiHime forum and it's closed to the general public so naturally if you're not a member you're not going to see them discussing the chapter; it's safe to assume, though, that they're talking about it in regards to regular plot stuffs. Not all shippers in fandom---believe it or not--are preoccupied with shipping ALL THE TIME. XD

I myself see this chapter as pretty Ruki--> Ichi but there was plenty other stuff to be amazed about and to anticipate. WHERE WHAT YUKIO? RIRUKA? URAHARA? WTFBBQ KILLING ICHIGO CHANGING SS--WHAT DOES THIS SPELL FOR HIS FUTURE IN IT? EVENTUAL CAPTAINHOOD?

Rukia's fangirling over Ichigo was beautiful. As a friend pointed out we've seen girls in this arc fangirl over Ichigo. Orihime over Ichigo's kindness when he shared the bread she herself had given him. Riruka over Ichigo's hotness. But Rukia was all doe-eyed over how Ichigo changed Soul Society for the better and did the right thing.

People have faith in Ichigo all throughout the manga--it's true that Ichigo inspires it. But the IchiRuki bond is always saved for the last of arcs as a crowning touch. Chad and Orihime had faith that Ichigo's powers would return but Rukia was the one who restored them with her own hands and is given this inner monologue to laude Ichigo's good points. It's very IchiRuki indeed.

But the arc is far from REALLY over. It has that "concluding" feeling but there are loose ends, like I said. I can't wait for more infos.

there's only one ichihime forum? uh.... should i comment on the implications for that, or let the fact speak for itself? and i still don't get why it's closed to the general public... are they just that insecure about their pairing? not to be mean, but.... im genuinely confused here.... O.O

on a side note, i wonder if the next chapter will have some ichi-->ruki in it...

Re: Can't wait...

I meant forum as in a large board--an actual board like the new IR forum deathberry in itself is unusual for a pairing and it's a distinction for IchiHime to have one actually. It was the first and only in the Bleach fandom for a while. "Forum" can also mean a speciaifc section/thread on a board; there are pairing fanclubs and forum threads all over--is that what you meant by IchiHime "forums" not discussing the chapter?

The IchiHime board, to the best of my understanding, is closed to the public because of harassment and the ugly nature of fandom. This blog has been subjected to the same; it's hard work picking off trolls and anons and deleting this and that. I've closed a lot of places I originally meant to keep public just because it's not worth having your words ripped out of context for nyah nyah battles. I like keeping bleachness open in the spirit of the hospitality I was reared with, though--it's hard to shake that sort of thing.

In any event, I'd rather not discuss the shipping aspects of IchiRuki vs IchiHime here now. Just leads to WAAAAAAAH and is really OT for this chapter--maybe I'll set up a controlled little symposium for shipping subjects one day, lol.

Re: Can't wait...
yeah, that's wat i meant. im sure that someone's discussing it on a public thread somewhere, but, again, i hadn't seen any yesterday.

thank you for clearing that up for me. although iv seen when trolls try coming on places like this. usually they get thrown off due to the large amount of evidence that places like this have at they're disposal.

true. and, XD. i would definitely pay that a visit, just to see a fair pairing war. usually someone claims somewhere as a home turf for one pairing or the other, so the battles usually end up pretty one sided.

Why is the shoujo bubble background often appears now in regards to Ichiruki ? <3333333

Rukia and Ichigo in this chapter are verrryyyyyyyyy beautiful. Bless Kubo for making me love Ichiruki even more. Just when people have some doubt about him even when SS already saw what Ichigo had done in regards to Aizen, only Rukia believes him unconditionaly. *sobs* Ichiruki is such a beautiful relationship.
