Bleach 473 is Up
Bleach 473 is up at MangaStream.

"Enemies in the Dark" = a reference to Ginjou's "lol, let me tell you who the REAL enemies are" line at the end of the chapter? Perhaps also how Riruka is probably inside of Rukia?

Oh, Nii-sama <333 Just as it had been predicted, Facebook's attempt to use his "shared past" with Byakuya failed; after all, Byakuya is the man who tried to off his own sister in SS arc. So in response to Facebook's "WTF, you owe me," Nii-sama simply replies: "Whatever, you're Kurosaki Ichigo's enemy, so I don't care if you were Hisana/Rukia/my grandfather/random other dude." I like how Byakuya actually really trusts and respects Ichigo his future brother-in-law, even if he treats Ichigo like he's a dirty brat to his face.

Kenpachi gets mad at Ikkaku for wasting time lecturing Shishi. Renji thinks Jackie is probably dead but doesn't know for sure? Okay... Hitsugaya mildly harassing bratty Yukio is actually very entertaining. Hitsugaya ended up saving Yukio, taking him as a prisoner, and will only release him once all the other shinigami are freed and accounted for.

"I don't see Kuchiki and Kuchiki" = one of my favorite lines from this chapter. You're a funny kid, Hitsugaya.

Nii-sama appears with Rukia's body. It's not weird at all that there's no trace of Riruka and Rukia's for some reason unconscious despite having suffered only mild injuries and having normal reiatsu... So yeah, 90% sure that Riruka is inside of Rukia. RUKIA'S INNER WORLD + SODE NO SHIRAYUKI SOON PLEASE. :/

Yukio reveals that the Fullbringers tried not to reveal the full extent of their powers to one another, but Ginjou knows all of their powers.

I wonder what the other Fullbringers' promises to Ginjou were?

Ginjou pulls an Aizen. "You have no reason to fight me." It's like the dialogue was lifted exactly from the Deicide arc. Anyway, Ginjou says Tsukishima is going to die soon, and once Tsukishima does, his powers fade away so everyone will be back to normal. That's convenient. I'm pretty meh that Ginjou doesn't seem to care that his husband his partner Tsukishima is on the brink of death though. Still, I hope Tsukishima survives :|

Ginjou ends with a cliffhanger: HEY, YOU SHOULD WORRY ABOUT THESE REAL ENEMIES. "Real enemy" as in Soul Society screwing Ginjou over, and as a substitute shinigami, Ichigo's next on the list? "Real enemy" as in Ginjou reveals all the dastardly things he's done, so take him more seriously? "Real enemy" as in [insert other entity here]?

hinodeh: rukia looks aheadhinodeh on November 16th, 2011 04:22 pm (UTC)
Unexpectedly, Hitsugaya was pretty cool in this chapter again. Smart behavior heroes is such a treat to read about.

I guess Bya's loyalty to the law has switched to loyalty to Ichigo, because the latter set him straight? Still, it seems a bit extreme that so many characters in the series have something akin to undying loyalty to Ichigo, even without them being buddies. I dunno, I guess I just don't like Ichigo being that much of a Messiah. It wasn't enjoyable in Naruto, either.

So Tsukishima has ten more minutes to live? I wonder why KT did that. Will Shishi accidentally stumble upon him?

The inner struggle between Rukia and Riruka is one now, I guess. I hope we won't have to wait for it too long. It is shaping up to be really interesting.
Oh, and Renji's concern for Rukia was really sweet.

Ginjou probably has some beef with SS, but it could be also Isshin or another ally of Ichigo. Hope that the backstory is good.

Good chapter overall!
qwirky on November 16th, 2011 04:49 pm (UTC)
Hitsugaya might win me over if he keeps acting like this. I don't actually have anything against him, but I was never really impressed with him before this arc.

I think Byakuya's loyalty to Ichigo makes sense. Ichigo saved his sister after all. Ichigo has also done a lot for SS and the world, so I think Byakuya recognizes that Ichigo is a really good kid (despite being an uncouth brat) who wouldn't be anyone's enemy unless the other side was in the wrong :3 Well, that's how I see it, anyway XD

BA copypasta
Tsukishima and Ginjou didn't really cut it for me as long term villans so I'm alright w/Tsuki's supposed death. I mean sure they were interesting and strong, but not "threatening the existence/balance of the world" dangerous. I'm really eager to hear about this "true enemy" Ginjou is talking about.

As for Rukia, I'm gonna go ahead and assume that Riruka is hiding in Rukia's body. Maybe she wants a peak at her heart to compare their own experiences and how they dealt with them or something. Is this serious? Hmm, well I don't know if Riruka has enough ill intent to seriously harm Rukia or not. I just don't want a repeat of Orihime and Chad's mind/heart fuckery. If Tsuki really feared Riruka's ability then tbh I'm kind of anxious about Rukia's future well being ><

If what Ginjou said about people effected by FB abilities revert back to the way they were when a FB dies is true, then is it a stretch to assume that if Orihime dies, then so do a lot of other characters? Orihime's ability is "healing" but more like rejecting the reality of injury/death...so would that revert if she died? Interesting thing to think about if you read heavily into Ginjou's words.

I'm really eager for next week's chapter!

Re: BA copypasta
I honestly don't think Riruka would just jump into Rukia just to compare their experiences or to see how Rukia's mind work. I think by picking Rukia to solo off against, attacking her, getting mad at her, etc., Riruka has shown that she is more than willing to fight. Riruka also said before she stabbed Rukia that she didn't want to use that power - but she ends up using it anyway. I think Riruka intends to survive and get away free, and she'll do whatever it takes to ensure that.

I'm not sure what the fandom consensus is, but I still don't think Orihime is a Fullbringer. That said, even if she is, I think Ginjou is saying that only continuous powers end, not powers that are one-shots. Tsukishima's power/influence over people is apparently on-going (based on what Ginjou says), so if he dies, that influence ends; if Yukio dies, his game worlds (also an on-going power) would presumably disappear. However, Jackie attacking someone with her dirty boots doesn't mean that if she dies, then any attacks she made with her boots would be negated. I think that'd be the same for Orihime; she rejects whatever happened, whatever is healed/repaired/restored to its previous state, and then her power ends. Her power isn't putting something in a constant state of rejection, which would be on-going.

Nii-sama you magnificent son of a bitch. I love it. You do NOT mess with his family. What? Ichigo's his future Brother-in-law, it TOTALLY counts. But seriously, that ending was a great reminder of how stone cold Byukuya is, along with reminding us that he still believes he owes Ichigo a debt for teaching him the true meaning of honor and family during the SS arc -- that or his current mission is to assist Ichigo and Tsuki got in the way of that. Either way it's awesome as hell.

Ginjou. Oh man. I can feel my position on the Kinsey meter shifting as I write this. <3

Man, Ginjou sure has a lack of being torn up about Tsukishima. Not sure if that's 'cuz he's that cool, a Psycho, or cuz he knows Tsuki's gonna be fine.

Is Ginjou about to reveal that Seretei is a bunch of assholes and Aizen may have had a point at the beginning of his crusade? Because I have been waiting for that reveal since the SS arc. Of course, I don't trust Ginjou much either. Whether his grievances are legit or not, he's done enough stuff he's still pretty much a bad dude. Is he going to be telling the truth, a lie, or the truth as he sees it? And is Ichigo gonna take the bait?

Rukia's the real enigma here. She's probably almost definitely possessed, but is anyone gonna notice? And is Rurika's agenda here? She seemed quasi-sympathetic for a while, but she's also a somewhat capricious, possessive type so far. Will she try to take over Rukia's life? Will she use her possession of Rukia to Sabotage stuff? Will she try to seduce Ichigo? >_>

I'm excited for more!

About to run a sick kid w/Pink Eye to dr but had time to read the chapter....

YAAAAAAAY! GOOOOD CHAPTER! "Kuchiki and Kuchiki" made me LOL and whew, Sushi is alive and damn it if Renji's line didn't give me infinite hope for Jackie--fu, Kubo if you're just teasing because really, don't play with my heart this way. "Probably." Yeah, SHE BETTER BE ALIVE.

The Riruka set up is going to be huge--is it being saved for post Ginjou fight?

Damn, Nii-sama, you're awesome, and damn damn, Tsuki, you're STILL ALIVE WITH A HOLE IN YOUR CHEST. You're one strong human--how are you doing that? I guess FB powers are special after all.

I love me some RenRuki. Ren->Ruki that is. He's so <3 and she's unconscious. I don't like Orihime-> unconscious Ichigo but Renji's affections always are so endearingly obvious without declarations or sappy lines. His "Yes sir!" to Bya made me smile. Like please don't fry Rukia with healing kidou, Renji--you know you're awful at it so please don't try to heal her!

GINJOU! WTFBBQ! We're in for a lovely mindfuck next week. I can't wait. Talk to me, Ginjou--tell me something crazy about yourself, the RR, Isshin--ANYTHING. I'm all ears. <3
qwirky on November 16th, 2011 05:38 pm (UTC)
I'm not going to hope too much, but Renji not being sure made it a few percentage points more likely Jackie survived. Rather, I don't want to hope in case 'lol, no, just messing with you.' Kubooooooo. ;_;

I thought Riruka would turn before the final Ginjou fight. I feel like a lot of the drama would be gone once Ginjou goes down - unless Ginjou runs away or something. Maybe the Riruka v. Rukia inner-world fight will wait until after Storytime with Ginjou-san?

The RenRuki felt really, really mild to me. I wasn't impressed for some reason. I would have thought it more touching if he had been shown healing her or something more than just holding her while she's dead to the world. Though you make a good point that maybe we don't want him to heal her. We already know he's going to be eternally in love with her, and she's going to be oblivious, but it felt like a watered-down scene compared to what we've seen before. Oh well~

I want flashbacks, Ginjou. Lots of them!

This chapter surprised me! From the spoilers, it seemed like a clean wipe-out of the fullbringers with Tsukishima's easy death.

Now the chapter itself was amazingly entertaining. Loved the Kenpachi-Ikkaku-Renji-Hitsugaya conversations:D It's good to have the shinigamies back in the stories.

Ginjou's speech and possible revelations at the end, is really exciting. So Tsuki isnt dead eh? Good to know my Bleach predictions isnt completely off track. And who is the enemy Ichigo really should be fighting? Soul Society perhaps? The Soul King? Makes me think of Aizen's last words to Urahara..;D
jpblackjpblack on November 16th, 2011 04:45 pm (UTC)
"The enemy you should really be fighting"

This chapter was kind of ridiculous. We still don't know what happened to Rukia, we get a piece of exposition the Fullbringers, understandably, never shared with Ichigo, but when the audience learns it at the same time, it's less impactful, and it feels like Kubo is just covering his tracks on suff we've been asking for awhile. And why are Fullbringers and Soul Reaper Agents able to share their powers? Does it have something to do with them both being human? I hope we get more exposition on that. or perhaps Yukio doesn't know the whole story, and it'll be reveal Ginjo specifically can take/give powers, since he's the only one who's been doing it, so far.

Also, I don't know if it's just a translator flub, but wouldn't "contract" be a better word than "promise" about sharing abilities? "Promise" implies Yukio can release Ichigo, but won't. I don't know the original word used, though. I would've accepted "pact" as well.
luminous85: Huh?luminous85 on November 16th, 2011 05:16 pm (UTC)

It's interesting how that possibility could present itself while some of the strongest, Aizen fighting reinforcements are not in Soul Society to prevent it. It's kind of odd actually--scheming even. Hmm...

For once, I'm interested in what Ginjou has to say.

But I'm still more interested in what's going on with Rukia/Riruka. What the hell is going on? Is she gonna simply pop out of there when she feels like it? Is Rukia unconscious because she's doing something inside of her inner world?
I HOPE SO BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE AWESOME. It would give Kubo a chance to redeem himself by having Rukia step up and kick ass, as well as shut up her ~she's so useless bawwww~ haters.
Anyway, whatever happens with Riruka, I just hope that it doesn't have any long-lasting negative effects on Rukia.
Reading Bleach solely for the ladies is hard work.

Aaaand it looks like Ishida spontaneously disappeared.
peca_06peca_06 on November 16th, 2011 05:22 pm (UTC)
Wow! Tsukishima will die because he rely heavily on deceiving people with his bookmarking ability (he sucked as a warrior, no real skill with the sword it seems), if they don't take the bait, they will kill you, as simple as that and Byakuya has a strong will, not that easy to waver. Interesting and makes sense he ended up going down that quickly under those circumstances.

Hitsugaya was brilliant. I don't really think much of him, but he was great here.

Rukia seems to be carried on the same manner by everyone XDDD. Gah! Riruka has turned into some sort of parasite infecting Rukia. I wonder what the consequences on that are. I do smell an inner journey for her and like some, I would love to see Sode No Shirayuki's form etc... I wonder if this would teach Riruka some humbling experiences too. This will redeem her or destroy her depending on how she takes it.

OH, Ginjou >.>, that last line... He is trying to weasel himself out of the battle by attempting one of his BS moves. Why are you fighting me now, there is no need for that... Besides, guess who is your worst enemy, not me, is ... I'm sure he is going to bring the SS up and what they did to him poor thing. Maybe he'll turn out to be Aizen's little brother XDDDDD. Ichigo pleaaaase, don't listen to him :P and where is Ishida? I'm sure he'll keep Ichigo from wavering to such non-sense... If Ichigo would listen to him for once >.<.

RenRuki shipper speaking up here. Renji carried her like a baby, or more or less bridal style in SS. He cherishes her. Also, he had to have a nice convo w/her ABOUT ICHIGO that whole scene--XD

Oh I love my RenRuki, but the RenJackie shipper in me is rooting for that ship weirdly enough after this chapter. That one "probably" made me sigh. Damn you Kubo.

Couple of things...

Am I the only one that thinks Tsukishima looked genuinely sad on page 4 after Byakuya cut him down with zero remorse? Also...where'd Ishida go in the epic Ginjou battle? Well at least he's there somewhere with Ichigo during the reveal. That's got to be important.

no, I saw that, too. Messed with my original take on his character quite a bit, too, since it wasn't a "baah! My mindrape failed!" kind of face, which would be more understandable from the kind of guy Tsukishima seemed to be up to that point.

Ridiculous predictions....
I'm hoping we get to be taken into Rukia's inner world and it's more cutesy than Riruka ever imagined...Riruka then decides instead of a hostile takeover, she's quite satisfied with the interior design but then Shirayuki comes in and kicks her ass out of there. Shirayuki is a girl wearing a giant Chappy costume or something....

Riruka possesses Rukia and after Ichigo's fight, totally rambunctious and randy. Renji and Byakuya are out for Ichigo's blood (it's somehow his fault of course) meanwhile the other shimigami have to hold her down but Rukia's true love for Ichigo overcomes Riruka to save the day.

This is essentially why I don't write Bleach.

Tsukishima's actions this chapter were a bit peculiar. I had him pegged as a textbook sociopath, but between his expression after Byakuya's remarks to his clenching his fist afterward, he's being uncharacteristically emotional.

Ah well, he has a ten minute window, and no development, so maybe we'll learn more about it later.

I'd be all willing to call Byakuya badass for choosing Ichigo over someone to whom he owed everything, but really... doesn't that imply that Byakuya's bond with Ichigo is stronger than Chad or Orihime's? That's a tough pill to swallow from an objective standpoint. *shrug* Perhaps it's because Tsukishima didn't directly manipulate the memories relating to Ichigo, and thus Byakuya saw no reason for Ichigo to feel indebted to him like the other two did.

Not big enough on the shinigami to really have any fun with their post-battle banter, though I'm curious to know how Sushi managed to wander off when they were trapped in a virtual battleground.

Ah, Ginjou! I hope you have a legitimate point to make with your promise of exposition next week, since you lack Aizen's charisma needed to bluff up a "real enemy" speech. At any rate, I think people hoping for a flashback further than TbtP are asking too much. There's no way Ginjou is privvy to information THAT far back, given that he's a human who inherited shinigami powers. Likewise, I doubt he'll be the fount for an Isshin gaiden. Guess next week will tell.

Also, shame on you for lacking any empathy for your husband. How is your next batman gambit going to work out with no one to cover for your crappy acting?

He may act colder and more stoic than anyone else on the outside, but he holds to certain values and bonds more firmly than anyone else.

Now it's time to wonder, who is the "enemy" ginjo is talking about! Can't wait!

Jackie is dead.

Renji said that he had already got out of the dimension A WHILE AGO JUST AFTER THE EXPLOSION, (obviously long before the others were realeased manually by Yukio), and bearing in mind Yukio's rules "You get out only if your enemy is dead", that means Jackie is confirmed dead by defeault.
