Bleach 457, Spoilers
Get your spoilers right here.

Basically, more of the same (CRUEL WORLD WHY MUST I FIGHT BRAINWASHED FRIENDS WHYYYYY) up until Ginjou takes a hit meant for Ichigo. To be perfectly honest, I didn't think anything happened in last week's chapter that couldn't have easily fit in the chapter before it, and this one seems even moreso. It's just a little stretched out. However, since Ginjou got cut, I'm hoping that will move things along a tad bit faster. Depending on how Ginjou was cut, he could have his memories altered from this point on (assuming he wasn't always on Tsukishima's side, of course).

So Ishida has been shown but apparently hasn't arrived yet. Whenever I think that I have figured KT's pacing out, he exceeds my expectations of making it even slower. :/

Other than that, I hope that the fights have some nice visuals and I am interested to see how Ginjou protecting Ichigo is portrayed.

Well, Deb and a bunch of others have thought for awhile now that Kubo is planning on saving plot (also, Rukia) for August, Bleach's 10th anniversary. I was unwilling to believe it because I could not believe that Kubo would deliberately slow the story for a f*cking anniversary, but it's basically already August now, so. -_-

I think Uryuu will show up next week and if he is not brainwashed, someone will chop off HIS arm. >_>

...I hope that Ishida loses his pants while running and gives us five full pages of his sexy, milky white legs shining in the romantic moonlight.

Otherwise, well.

...padding padding padding padding padding padding padding padding.

And my trusty pc broke down on me too, so I can't even joke about it in abridged form at the moment... ;_;

Oh well. That looks rather well.
And at least Ishida is running.

OH SNAP, Ginjou is cut?! Oh boy xD Hurry up Ishida, Ichigo needs your help to protect his humanity, AGAIN.

The Night of the living Dorks is what Bleach reminds me of now, and Ichigo is The Virgin... or Ishida /headdesk/
But seriously, this is turning into mind*uckery of readers. Next thing we know, Ichigo wakes up from this horror to learn that it was Aizen's illusion all along.
And I'm more excited to read the chapter 458 or even 459, hope the rescue team's gonna reach that mansion already.

Bleach is imitating life, dragging on completely unnecessarily, presenting no answers, but at least most lives have reasons to laugh that aren't purely out of frustration.

Why am I underwhelmed again.

Because this was OMGWTFBBQ about three weeks ago. After three weeks of chewing the same material, very much like a cow chewing her cud, we're beginning to tire.

Wow, I really admire KT's ability to completely destroy any shreds of momentum that he's managed to build up! Hopefully there's more in the chapter itself to warrant it, but yikes, way to stretch things. Especially on the Ishida front. We need to see him running?

I remember joking about KT doing this - one chapter he's standing by the bed, next he's brushing his teeth, next he walks down the hall. I guess it's a nice reminder that he's on his way (though we never had that in HM before his dramatic entrance after the 6 Hearts chapter, not sure which approach I prefer) and build up of his arrival (if only to possibly have him fail, surprise!11).

Guess it's too soon to judge the chapter as a whole tho, 'til it's actually out and blah blah.

In other news, I'm starting to subscribe to the theory that Kubo really is padding it out for an anniversary blowout.

"In other news, I'm starting to subscribe to the theory that Kubo really is padding it out for an anniversary blowout."

It's sad but I tell this to myself as comfort now. Like, "He'll get his shit together soon! He really will! and then his pacing will be magical and there will be rainbows and unicorns and all these wonderful things! Love all the things!"

I think I swore I'd stop reading Bleach three months ago, and yet here I am. I really don't know why.

Don't want to finally judge the chapter already, based only on spoilers - but, wtf: doesn't Kubo realize that his manga is published on a WEEKLY basis?! He should know that he has to capture the audience week by week and not let them down on a regular basis with this slow pacing! It's so frustrating!

I think he tries to satisfy the readers by always creating cliffhangers, so the speculating what'll happen in the next chapter will be immense. And that may be why ppl keep reading Bleach: because they fantasize about what will happen in the next chapter(s) and think of so many possible events and plot twists.

That's possibly the only reason I keep reading Bleach (and desperately awaiting Rukia's return): because I think of and read about so many possible plot developments in the next chapter, thus my expectations rise - just to be disappointed :(

Almost everyone realized by now that Ishida will appear eventually, but portraying him only running in this chapter...wth!?

I've come to believe that it's one of KT's biggest faults to focus too much on newly introduced characters (that no one really cares for - at least not as much as for characters that have been essential for Bleach) at the expense of loved and cared for characters (i.e. Rukia and the shinigamis).
Why does he do this? Why doesn't he give the audience what they want??
Doesn't he realize that it's hurting Bleach's popularity immensely?

I'm really frustrated and losing faith in KT's writing qualitys...

Does anyone else find it curious that Ginjou's associates are fighting him and not Ichigo? After all, it was Ichigo who tried to kill Tsukishima, not Ginjou, and Ginjou said that Tsukishima didn't change feelings regarding other people, only towards himself.
(Anonymous) on July 20th, 2011 02:42 pm (UTC)
As for my views on the spoilers, I don't think I'll be bored. Not with Ginjou getting stabbed (I want to see how). Also, I want to see how close Ishida is to the villa. I suppose another factor contributing to my lack of boredom is emotional blunting (neverming from what, children).

Kubo is Kubo
I don't know who the artist of this illustrious comic is (if you are here, do let me know), but I figured it was horrifically appropriate, given the issues plaguing the manga at this point.

Re: Kubo is Kubo
No, the Kubo we all think we know is just the unreleased version of Kubo. He hasn't even shikai'ed yet, give it time ;P

Yeah I think I'll just stick to reading summaries until something truly interesting happens. This arc needs to end pronto.
It's a shame that the manga seems to have to focus on Ichigo, because a "meanwhile..." arc on Soul Society would DEFINITELY prove to be more interesting, with characters that we actually give a damn about.
Lady Camille Catherine Cecily Lloyd-George Xskilly_n_duff on July 20th, 2011 02:57 pm (UTC)
I was actually really excited when I read the summary! I know it's just more fighting but from the pictures it appears we'll be learning more about ShiShi's abilities and all the other fullbringers will be in action! Old Gramps with the watch--that's something I'm looking forward to!

Boy, it's a GREAT SIGN Ishida is on his way, especially since he's moving faster than Urahara and Isshin (seriously, guys, is your secret plan all that amazing you don't need to run?) The end is nearing. With Ginjou being taken out, everyone on the front line is down for the count which means the CALVARY IS A COMIN'!

Does anyone know the specific issue that will celebrate the 10th anniversary?
jpblackjpblack on July 20th, 2011 04:04 pm (UTC)
Two weeks from now.

I feel reaction and opinions would vastly differ if/when this arc is read in archive-binge form. I really should go back and do that with HM. Should only take me a few days.
