Orihime's Gonna Fight? Outcome Poll

I haven't been so excited about a Bleach chapter in ... forever! Since TBTP and the Lust chapters? Orihime is facing TWO opponents all by her lonesome--two opponents. She's never faced opponents by herself in the manga, not in ten years. Sure she's exhibited this sort of "knuckle down" determined attitude before but omg, this is just rich for an Orihime fan! So, even if she gets KO-ed in one panel in the next chapter, I'm good. We've found out where those hairpins of hers are AND she's shown that fire in her eyes again. Nevertheless, I'm greedy for more infos about her powers, and I've been double-guessing myself into imaginary numbers in the quantum realm for days trying to predict the outcome of this fight. So, guys, whatcha think? Choose as many answers as you wish.

Poll #1711106 Orihime Fight Poll

So whatcha think is going to happen in the confrontation between Orihime and Tsukishima/ShiShi?

The Beauty Attack won't prevail because Bookman doesn't swing that way.
ShiShi will come to Orihime's defense if Bookman attacks her!
No fighting. If Tsukishima wanted Hime dead she'd be dead already--he just wants info and there's only going to be talk, talk, talk.
Tsukishima is going to fullbring that book and give Orihime a nasty paper cut!
There will be a love triangle of never-before-seen Kubo innuendo once the fighting starts and Bookman and Hime and her fanboy start kicking!
Bookman threatens Hime and somehow Ichigo arrives from another city with his shunpou and main character status recovered!
Bookman threatens Hime and Ishida arrives with Quincy flashstep, ready to fight with puppet-string technique and bust his stitches for Orihime!
Ryuuken arrives to either rescue or scold someone or both!
Isshin arrives! Why not? He's been missing for a while and it would make an awesome dramatic entrance!
Unexpected coda to the Arrancar arc: TSUBAKI MAKES AN APPEARANCE!
Tatsuki! Because BBFs need more panel time!
Urahara! Because he never explains anything but somehow manages to move the plot!
Visored! Hey, we're all wondering where they are so it would seem to follow!

I tend to believe that we're going to get a talk, with Bookman explaining why we should hate the (other?) Fullbringers. It was nice to see Hime act with conviction and strength last week, but I'm not sure this is the time that she fully breaks out yet. There will be some reveals/accusations. I'm not against that, a little exposition might be nice right about now.

Now, I'd honestly love if she bought out Tsubaki and beat some people up, but I don't think that's in the cards. Not yet, anyway.

Ulquiorra will show up out of nowhere, and reclaim Hime for himself.

That's my theory, and I'm sticking with it >(

Oh man, I'm trying not to get excited about this chapter already. (I have a full day on Wednesday and absolutely cannot cut class to rave and squee about Bleach all day. Gah! I'm evil, but for my sake, I hope it comes out late. XD)

OK, since I successfully predicted some of what happened last week, I'd like to think I'm on a run, but I fear that was probably a one time thing. Honestly, I'm not even sure what I want to see happen. I would, however, put money on there being some talking going on, since Book Guy showed up in a non-aggressive attitude (he's just sitting there, so far.)

So, talking? Yes. Orihime fighting? Well, she was going for her pins, for sure, but I'm not sure what she was going to pull out. Her resolve makes me think she's been training, so I think we'll see some fancy shield work -- possibly even her shields used in an offensive manner, or to trap one of her opponents.

As for rescue? Hmmm. I don't think she can take both these guys down on her own. Even if she attacks and flees, she can't outrun Tsukishima, since she's the only nakama who doesn't have some sort of flash-step/sonido/hirenkyaku. I therefore think there is bound to be some kind of interference, if not outright rescue. It would be, after all, a perfect moment for someone to step in.

Who, tho? Well, Ichigo would have to be able to sense what's going on and get there in time, so while I wouldn't count it out, I don't see a real high chance. Shinji or some other Vizards? That would rock pretty hard (especially if he showed up in a really smooth outfit) and we'd finally get to see if they were still poking around KKT.) Ishida? He's fast, he's got the strongest reiatsu sensing abilities, and if the Dome is any indication, wounds don't stop this guy so I wouldn't be that awfully surprised to see him show up. Ryuuken? Also a possibility. Isshin? Like I said, it would be a perfect moment to reintroduce someone. I just don't think that someone is gonna be a Shinigami. (Kubo has surprised me before, however, so nothing's off the table.)

What I don't want to see happen? Kubo using it as an opportunity to introduce yet another new character. :P Please, enough already.

So, some talking, some defending, maybe some fleeing, and most likely another interruption, followed by yet another cliff-hanger. That's my prediction.

You know what I think would be awesome, and not *entirely* unlikely? If Ishida did appear, still wounded but ready to fight, and they took on Bookman together. But he's strong, and his fighting style is totally unfamiliar to them, and Ishida's still badly hurt, and they falter. Then Ryuuken shows up :D The foe is vanquished, or at least retreats, and Uryuu gets chided for undoing Ryuuken's hard work, then he gets stuck back in the hospital.

Yeah, I totally do not know what next chapter will bring, but that's fun to think about, anyway XD

Honestly, I have NO IDEA. But I look forward to seeing what happens next, very much :D I loved seeing that look in Orihime's eyes (right after the sparkly beautiful panel, oh my~) and Bookman is incredibly interesting to me, and I want to know what's up with him.

I'd love to see Tatsuki show up, or Ishida, or Ryuuken, or Isshin. Knowing that Orihime was at least ready to open a can of whoop-ass makes it totally okay for her to have help, imo... because that's what friends are for, to help each other :) I think it's too early in the story, the way it's being set up, for Tsubaki, sadly.

I need an Orihime icon, jeez XD I don't know why I don't have one yet!

I definitly think that there will be no fight and just talk talk talk.

At the same time though, I'm thinking if a fight will happen, Isshin or Ryuken may appear, but after Orihime puts up a fight.

Lastly, I think that ShiShi will defend Orihime, but not now, perhaps in the upcoming longer arc if he's involved in it.

I want to see ShiShi again--I really like him. I thought he was hilarious.

I was hoping there would be a fun poll before this chapter. XD

I want that SO BADLY *_* (and my panties gonna fall if I get it xD) but I'm betting on Tsukishima doing some talking before we step into action and then Tatsuki/ Ryuuken / Uryuu appearing to help.

andrew_jpandrew_jp on February 28th, 2011 12:54 am (UTC)
If this guy one-shotted Ishida, Orihime doesn't have a chance of even putting up a fight for long unless she powered up a lot offscreen, which is a possible but unlikely, in my opinion.

That "Ishida, then Ryuuken arrive to help" scenario described upthread strikes me as a fairly logical progression, but then we all know Kubo's writing doesn't have a whole lot to do with logic.
Kylla: devil duckyeriss on February 28th, 2011 01:06 am (UTC)
I think she'll really put a fight.

It would be SO AMAZING if Inoue stepped up to fight. It's odd how inspired this character makes me with so little as a determined glare. I have been on the move all this past week because of it(thank you Kubo). lol A fight does seem unlikely, though. *hopes still* As it is Tsukishima didn't seem to be pursuing Ishida when Ishida came after him. You coooould argue he was fighting in self defense. I can't believe I'm even considering that. -_-

If a fight did go down, I do hope Ishida would come to help. It's like Nehalenia said about him above. What I would like to see is her healing him after the fact. It would be a sweet way for Kubo to incorporate that heal scene between them and bring Ishida back to action.

Ishida shows up, busts his stitches, and THEN Tsubaki appears. Can't Wait

I foresee talking. there's dire need of exposition from bookguy's point of view, and I can think of no more captive audience than Orihime.
Geek Grrl Wannabe: shinigami meravenlore on February 28th, 2011 02:24 am (UTC)
What I simultaneously love and hate about Orihime:

She has the power of a goddess (love) and doesn't fucking OWN it(hate)

That's all she has to do. Accept her power and OWN it. And nothing could stop her in a fight. It's endearing that she does not wish to cause harm, but her inaction causes harm to others. She knows this, and yet somehow she cannot bring herself to own her power.

_debbiechan_: orihime 341_debbiechan_ on February 28th, 2011 02:48 am (UTC)

AAAAAmen. She knows she's hurting others but then she turns around and denies that reality because the fact hurts her. But that's not selfish--hear me out while I defend her:

Laying claim to her true power before she knows how to use it would be so dangerous. She's stuck between a rock and a hard place. Between Fantasy and Reality. She's such an interesting character for me. I can't hate her, really. I can't. She drives me CRAZY because she can't won't doesn't act and so often denies and rejects REALITY but this is part of who she is. And she has to grow up, little by little, bit by bit, into her powers and into truly owning them.
