Bleach 435 is Out
Bleach 435 is out at MangaStream.

REMINDER: Don't tweet to Kubo about the chapter until Monday. Ditto on your tweets to him using avatars from the chapter.

The sheer amount of hilarious crack in this chapter is amazing. Of course most of it's due to Riruka being Riruka (Fullbring's an ability of "love", telling Ichigo just to use Fullbring but not giving him any hints on how to do so because she doesn't know anything about that, insulting Ginjou, stuffing herself with food out of tsundere worry, etc.), as well as Mr. Pork with the yakuza guy Riruka kidnapped inside it...

Ichigo always carries about his shinigami representative badge, so he realizes that's the key to unlocking his Fullbring. Guess he's "fond" of or "in love with" his badge. XD And Chad, being Ichigo's BFF, realizes Ichigo should use it too. Chad+Ichigo <3333 Glad to know someone is concerned for Ichigo. ;__;

And, uh, Ichigo can use Fullbring? Does that mean he inherited the ability to use Fullbring via Isshin or Masaki? And if it's through Isshin, does that mean all shinigami have the ability to use Fullbring? Or just the offspring of a shinigami who was attacked by a hollow? Or just shinigami/human offspring? Or is something else giving him this ability? >_>

Mad Beast Mode. More crack next week, looks like. <3

Well, her power really isn't healing per se so much as it's the reversal of events. She can use the ability to heal, but it's not really a 'healing' ability. Also it lost a great deal of its over-poweredness from how it was originally described; Orihime's power isn't nearly as OP as we had been led to believe, in much the same way as 'OMG 10 VASTOLORDES COULD DESTROY SOUL SOCIETY' turned into "Kenpachi kicks an Espada's ass just by putting both hands on his sword hilt", so...

Put it this way; if this was a Final Fantasy game, she'd be a Time Mage, not a White Mage.

Ah, yeah, you're right.

It's just that I sceptical because even with the soul, Riruka draws this into the pig. So, does Orihime draw the time into her pins or something? One is tangible and logical, the other is pretty abstract and weird. Besides, the pig is clearly affected because it's alive now due to the soul, whereas the pins... are not affcted at all?

Re: Asspull theory!
[Bad username: arcadiasilver"] seems to have the same idea as you.

I suppose this would make sense if she is indeed a fullbringer.
The Main Gauche of Enlightenmentvelvetsword on February 2nd, 2011 10:20 pm (UTC)
I think it works like this-- she forms a barrier and anything under or within that barrier is subject to time reversal. Her power seems based on either making barriers or 'rejecting' the existence of an event by negating it-- taking into account she can't reverse everything, of course. She's got pretty firm limits.

I don't think Orihime's a Fullbringer, for the record, so I'm not going to extrapolate on how her pins might work in that regard. Her powers have been compared to a Hollow-based ability before (Hacchi) so I'm content with the explanation of 'The Hougyoku did it'.

Hmm, I suppose we'll see if the hougyoku explanation is all we'll get or if there is more to it.

I still don't get why KT let her power evolve into resurrection at all. What was the point of that? Kills all suspense and I have a hard time believing that he only did that so that the Lolis could trash her again. I mean, was that really the sole reason to introduce that power?

I'd like to know why she was able to rez the Wonder Twins and not Ichigo. Was Ulquiorra's darkness just TOO DARK? Did Kubo decide that she was OP and needed a nerf? Why did he have Orihime talk about destroying the orb only to never ever mention this to Ichigo or anyone else, and devolve into "Kurosaki-kun!!!!" for nigh on 3 years?

tl;dr-- It's Kubo, I ain't gotta explain shit.

The dropped hougyoku plot bugs me, too.

And you know what else bugs me about the resurrection powers? It would have been so easy to deal with! Someone from the nakama dies for real, and s/he is really dead, and Orihime pours all her powers into it. The healing is really hard and it gets all dramatic and stuff. End result is that she succeeds but loses the resurrection power forever ( possibly along with Tsubaki, since KT is apparently resistent to use the little guy ever again). Voila, dramatic heoric sacrifice!

I'd love to continue this conversation but I think we should take it to MSN or somewhere private before the "Bleachness is just like those mean girls in high school my poor samurai waifu Orihime (totally NOT some lame-ass WRITER btw) got baaaaaaaashed by the literati elite becuz they was discussing her" crowd somehow gets our exchange reported to F_W, and we end up with our names written on the wall of some angry 40-something housewife's local Target with 'For a good time, call' jotted down next to it, or WORSE-- a high school bathroom.
hinodehhinodeh on February 2nd, 2011 10:52 pm (UTC)
I'm afraid that I don't have MSN, but I've made my point here, and well, I don't absolutely need to talk more about this. I see your point, and given how some parts of fandom are nowdays, I suppose they might see even a constructive suggestion on how KT could have dealt decently with the resurrection power as mean and jealous Orihime bashing, so yeah, let's stop.

Ah, I know that we have apparently 10 more years, but given how KT dealt with the Vasto Lord issues I have some genuine fears about how this resurrection and hougyoku plotwill be ultimately done. I mean, making a big deal about the VL and then only resolving the issue in the databook, instead of in the actual manga canon. Not good writing in my eyes.

I don't think the hougyoku bit has been dropped. I'm frustrated that it wasn't dealt with in HM arc, but I think it's just a case of Kubo loading Chekhov's Gun.

Rosencrantz, I fully concur. And I have the patience of an old hound dog. I'll just settle down here on the rug before the fire. *yawn*
