Also, on an off note: I wonder of Ohana is still calling Aizen "Ai-chan". *is shot*

lmao~ What, you don't think Ai-chan's new form is cuuuute and moe? XD

I'm not thrilled with the possibility of Ichigo being all angsty again since he has been for most of Bleach, however this is the type of moment I love most in stories. The hero sacrificing a big part of themselves in order to save something, also the fact that his father has probably done something similar makes it hit harder.

On a humorous side note Ichigo's new form covers his nose so he doesn't have to smell Aizen's shampoo. That look Aizen has is also terrible publicity for Bad Spirits Fragrance for Men but only a monster would wear it I guess.
qwirky on September 16th, 2010 01:16 am (UTC)
Ichigo's a teenager~ They're supposed to be angsty by nature! XD

Agreed :D I don't look forward to Ichigo's angst so much as the development he gets out of it. Angsty Ichigo can be... trying, to put it mildly. Which is why it's nice when a character can perk him up, either by slapping the angst out of him or giving him hope that he can grow stronger.

also the fact that his father has probably done something similar makes it hit harder
I wonder if Ichigo's realized yet that Isshin probably has gone through this same ordeal :x There are probably other things on his mind at the moment but... Isshin should understand, at least, what his son's going through.

Very short, but very powerful chapter. Ichigo has been drawn by Kubo sensei with what it looks like Shoujo style eyes on the latest chapters, don't you think? Very dark, with bigger irises, very emotional eyes. He is definitely deep in sadness (and he noticed it on Shiro/TS sword, which it is part of his soul after all). My heart aches for his obvious sacrifice, and seeing him indeed totally resigned to his fate puts a knot in my throat. Whatever it takes to stop Aizen -____-.
For now it is going to be hell for Ichigo T________T. I personally can't wait to see his journey after this new "beginning".
qwirky on September 16th, 2010 01:51 am (UTC)
The eyes don't lie. At least, not the way Kubo draws them XD

Yep. I'm so excited (and anxious) for what's coming next :x Excited for the story and for Ichigo's development, anxious for Ichigooooo~ The poor, pure-hearted, kind boy who, even though he's fallen down a lot along the way and made many mistakes, has given up so much of himself. T_T

I don't even know what to say, I've been blown away... "Deicide" never referred to Aizen. Damn, Kubo did it again, he pulled the rug out from under us just like he did in the SS arc when Aizen shows up not dead and starts killing everyone.

I can't wait to see what the future holds for Ichigo. It'll be rough but he'll be like a phoenix who rises from the ashes--newer, stronger, better for all that he's gone through.

And Rukia will be there to support him. /shameless IchiRuki fan forever <3
qwirky on September 16th, 2010 04:40 am (UTC)
"Deicide" never referred to Aizen.
I'm not sure about that. Unless Aizen survives somehow - which I seriously doubt - I think it's more a 'two for one' special. XD Basically, it refers to more than one character - Aizen, which was obvious from the start, but also Ichigo, which was somewhat less obvious. Some members of this community predicted earlier that "deicide" could refer to Ichigo, based on the chapter 'Tug Your God Out', and that seems to be freakishly accurate~

Ichigo will grow and become stronger from this. It's just the journey he has to take to reach that point that will be trying and potentially anxiety-inducing :D

Mrr.
Not quite sure how I feel about this chapter.

I think it's an interesting start, but as a means to an end itself I'm pretty lukewarm about it. I've been bitching pretty much non-stop since the Dome about the pacing, and while this is definitely a shakeup, I'm not entirely sure I could say I like it.

I'm not sure I could pinpoint exactly what leaves me so less-than-enthusiastic about all of this, but I guess it goes back yet again to the fact that we see very little to none of Ichigo's inner monologue in HM arc, in comparison to SS arc, where we heard it constantly. I always knew what Ichigo was thinking in SS arc-- half the time I could not fucking tell you what was going on in his head in HM arc. It feels like all this is sort of telegraphed in-- I'm not being shown what Ichigo is feeling.

God, I sound like such a downer. In any case, while I'm not one to go into (^________^) OMG RUKIA TEIM!11!!!1! in most cases, I have to say that the image that the name 'mugetsu' conveys is fairly indicative of the symbolism Kubo has set up, to the point where I'd be surprised if nothing came of it.

Yours, being a party pooper

Re: Mrr.
Maybe this will help with the downerness (maybe not, nothing wrong with feeling the downerness):
You're right. The further we moved from the SS arc the less we heard from Ichigo's head. I felt this was due more to Ichigo's 'negative character development' (lost for a better term here) than to Kubo just not taking time to show us what was going on in there. Ichigo just didn't do a lot of thinking during the HM arc. His position -- hating his inner hollow while depending on it's power, etc. -- put him in the way of some serious self-loathing. I don't think he wanted to process anything other than "fight, slash, protect, defeat, rwar!". At least, that is how I understood the lack of inner monologue (especially considering how much inner monologue we got from Ichigo in the SS arc). That understanding is a big reason why I am so excited about the manga's present developments.

Not sure if anyone else has said or thought this as of yet, but my husband and I were discussing this chapter this evening and we wondered if Ichigo loses his shinigami powers after using Final GT will he then become a full hollow? Then someone would have to kill Ichigo. Hubby said that he felt the way things were turning out seemed remarkably a lot like Dragonball where the hero had to kill himself in the end after becoming too powerful to exist.

Loved this chapter and I'm looking forward to seeing what actually happens.
ruinin fuckin' everythingallelujah on September 16th, 2010 03:17 am (UTC)
But he defeated the combination of his hollow and himself- so wouldn't he lose all his powers?

I have a theory that perhaps the houguko will grant Ichigo his powers. I mean it answered his wish in the beginning is it so unreasonable to think it might happen again? We've understood that the Hougyoko can give power thats what we've recently learned while Ichigo was fighting Aizen earlier. Its just a theory, take it with a grain of salt. Just wondering the hougyouko's role in all of this.

Just wondering the hougyouko's role in all of this.
Yeah, I wondered about that, too.
Maybe the Hougyoku will see Ichigo as his new "master" or something and...give him his powers back? Or, at least, some sort of power?
I don't know, but it's definitely interesting.
/waits for next week

Last chapters make me wonder if indeed Kubo intends to end Bleach the way he started it - the last scene being the one where Rukia stubs Ichigo through the heart. It'll prove that Bleach is indeed a story of destiny and not a result of Aizen's, or anyone else's for that matter, manipulations.

Aizen has become utterly repulsive. I cannot wait for him to get smackdown.

Verra interesting chapter. Not yet sure in my own head what to make of it, though I like Kubo's switch from external to internal action.

Obligatory I HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN ABOUT GIN and Kira needs to heal him comment here.
_debbiechan_: KUKUKU_debbiechan_ on September 16th, 2010 10:26 am (UTC)

Haha you're relentless. I haven't forgotten Gin either. I'm more certain than ever though that because he didn't close his eyes in his last scene and die for sure that he's going to make it through (although who KNOWS what that means for his role in the long run!)

Now... This really makes perfect sense, Ichigo's late stoic expression and his collected stand before Aizen is. Being the most-super-uber powerful with the price of giving up on his powers altogether can only be a sad thing. Ichigo in no way can gloat or be cocky about this fight, he can only be sad T_T

Poor Ichigo, a much as I like his new looks and Aizen's crashing self-esteem, my heart bleeds for him. He will lose his moon. Fortunately, there is a redundant shiny white moon wandering around XD
secila80: Nel ZOMGsecila80 on September 16th, 2010 06:36 am (UTC)
Wow. This is an amazing chapter. The unexpectedness of Ichigo's sacrifice of his shinigami powers in toto is on par with Aizen revealing himself and his grand evil plans. Forgive me, Kubo, I didn't realize until now that I wasn't expecting to be so surprised again. I am a bad fan ;_; Kubo remains an epic genius.

There are so many exciting directions that the story take from here. I'm kind of shocked some are guessing the story is coming to a close. I'm supremely excited to see where Kubo is going with this. If it wasn't for the upcoming movie being about the Hell Realm I'd guess Ichigo's face wrappings have something to do with the skeletons on the Hell Gate from eons ago, but that is such a tiny thing and THERE ARE JUST SO MANY PLACES THIS CAN GO. I'm excited, in case you couldn't tell.

I am concerned for Ichigo and wondering what his attitude is about sacrificing his powers. His character has always sought power in order to protect, so I'm not so sure he would be entirely upset with being powerless after defeating the big baddy (ugh Venom ALWAYS creeped me out and Aiznom is *shudder*). That is until a new threat surfaces so, like, 1.5, maybe 2 pages. Then he'll get all determined to kick butt again.

Okay, I'm rambling now . . .

This chapter was well worth the wait (man, am I glad I don't read spoilers anymore).

Though even if Aizen bites it, and doesn't show up for most of the series, I won't believe he's truly gone until we see an epilogue with Ichigo, Rukia, and their disgustingly cute little family.

But even then, a part of me will think that on the last page, Ichigo's son will turn towards the reader, slick his hair back, smirk, and say "Just as planned".

HOLY MOTHER OF JESUS HOW CAN HE TURN TO SOMETHING SO FREAKIN HOT?????

This chapter was awesome. I don't know what else to say, it was predictable, but so awesome. I really hope Aizen died this time though, and Kubo won't troll us again or something like that -.-
_debbiechan_: Aizen ILLUSION_debbiechan_ on September 16th, 2010 10:29 am (UTC)

Even if Aizen chucks it, there's GOT to be a backstory--we haven't seen the last of him, I'M SURE, in the Isshin gaiden. I'm really sure Aizen's not done for.
rhejis on September 16th, 2010 10:56 am (UTC)
Oohh my god.
As I already said in the thread for Ch. 418:
It's more like he (Ichigo) will loose his powers, which would also explain how Isshin lost his (at least for a while), since he obviously can or could do the Final Getsuga as well.
But still, what would there be left to happen in Bleach if Ichigo lost his power and Aizen was dead?
"
Which is the case now, apparently.
Though it's obvious that Ichigo must somehow be able to restore his powers - there just can't be a powerless Ichigo for the rest of Bleach! Although I'd admire Kubo for doing that, because that seriously would be something unique to do. Who's ever heard of a Shounen hero to lose all his powers and not regain them in the following chapters?

And as skilly_n_duff said: *Mind goes crazy over the angst fanfics involving her OTP (IchiRuki, I guess.) and Ichigo turning human, unable to see shinigami...*
I'm getting impatient waiting for Rukia to reappear.

Soo. Now what?
Back to HM/FKK, or a time jump? Or something entirely different, like a second TBTP arc?
I wonder.

And one more thing.
That last page - just what is happening right there?
My first impression was that Ichigo transported FK back to its original place in the World of the Living, but reading that "All returns to nothing!" thing in the corner it looks more like Ichigo made some big-ass Getsuga with some special powers and...idk, destroyed Aizen and like half of the world around them.
I'm not really being creative there, I know.

But seriously, I loved this chapter.
All those implications and the name Mugetsu for Ichigo's final form, and the Decide title (Killing off Aizen and Ichigo's Shinigami side -> two gods?) etc. etc.
I could go on rambling forever.
And we got flashbacks and explanations, a sort-of plot twist and Aizen-kill (hopefully). Not counting Ichigo losing his powers there. Could it be any better?

This post is so incoherent, oh my god. And I bet I just repeated what everyone already said anway.
I'll use the enormous amount of awesomeness in this chapter as an excuse for now.

*sits down and impatiently waits for next week*
And sorry for all the grammar mistakes. *cough*
yl_ylyl_yl on September 16th, 2010 10:54 pm (UTC)
Switching back to HM would be extremely anticlimatic wouldn't it?

I'm so puzzled by the last scene as well. I'm dying to know what is happening... but I won't have computer next week! Gah. But this chapter was indeed awesome in many many ways.
