I'm hoping that the "nobody dies in Bleach" tradition will continue? y/n/maybeplease?

Thanks, Deb!

Okay, I'm a little confused about something. The scene where the 3 shinigamis were kneeling in front of Aizen, is that the hougyoko they're giving to Aizen?

Good god, even knowing that nobody dies in Bleach, I still went "omg please don't die please don't die OMFG GIN'S GONNA DIEEEE" throughout the whole chapter.

And I've never done that. Gdi, Gin obviously won me over =\
Mimipink_writer on August 4th, 2010 06:54 pm (UTC)
But anyway, Aizen having a super-mega-hole in his chest in the first couple of pages almost gave me hope on not seeing that bastard's face. ever.

Expected that he lives, but I'm still so disappointed.

Jesus. First time in ages I hadn't read spoilers before the actual chapter and it was so much better.

Ohmygod GIN. I'm starting to care for him. With just this chapter. The mask was completely gone and he was like a real person, hiding behind a corner and he snatched the hougyoko AND DAMN YOU AIZEN seriously I'm so tired of Aizen.

And yeah, those people who said he'd be a pretty butterfly so got it right.

I want GinRan now. And for Gin to live. This is bizarre I've never cared for him.
Hikaru Hitachiin "Little Devil"~vinheim on August 4th, 2010 11:02 pm (UTC)

I know what you mean. 'Cept I always liked Gin, but this chapter I could actually feel his character-ness. He was more real this time, as you said, hiding behind a corner and not smiling all the time.

I liked this Gin very very much. I hope the Rule Nobody Dies is true .__. I want GinRan so much now it hurts.

Firstly, I love Rangiku's cheeks. They look so pinchable. And as much of an Aizen fan that I am of jeez, is this the betrayal he didn't see?

As for the ButterflAizen, I don't mind his random costume changes. It wouldn't suprise me if he soon became something formless like Hirose from Alive: the Final Evolution.

Argh. next week can't come soon enough!

Every week I read "But I thought Aizen would die!" And every week, I go: "Seriously?" XD Why anyone's surprised by Aizen's butterfly form, I'm not sure. One of the chapters used "chrysalis" in the title, so Aizen's shell was obviously a cocoon. (Of course, I didn't anticipate him actually getting butterfly wings, but whatever XD)

Edit: Oh, was corrected on the flashbacks. :x

If this is the end of Gin right now, it'd be good for Rangiku not to know what's going on - she'd never want Gin to do what he did, in her name or for her sake. However, she may never know how much he really, genuinely cared for her... but that's probably something Gin anticipated by keeping her in the dark. But despite that, when she confronted him on the roof, that she wasn't being honest in her feelings for him obviously deeply hurt him. Aaaugh. Gin/Ran. Their relationship is so tragic. D:

Just want to add that people going "lolz, Rangiku's tiny boobs" is kind of disturbing. She's a little kid here, first off, so gross? Second, she's been brutalized - that her chest is being shown is perhaps an indication of Kubo implying darker things that he won't explicitly address?

Anyway, so many questions about what Aizen was given in the forest. It looks like the hougyoku, but as far as we know, Urahara invented the hougyoku. It seems like that scene predated Urahara's invention - or was it? And was that orb related to Rangiku, or was she just a random casualty?

Shoot, the future of her showing her chest may be her way of saying she won't be victimized again.

Just one question: did those freaks rape Ran or just beat her up? It's just...eh, yeah...

I'm wondering if this is when Gin and Ran are living together? Or perhaps he hasn't bet her yet.

Poor Gin. Even he has an agenda smashed before his eyes by Aizen. The list just keeps going on.

The way it looks, to me it seems like Rangiku was raped. Which is sad, she's young. But the way it looks it seems like these guys were given a touch of the hougyoku and I guess...sickeningly wanted a young Rangiku? The thought is giving me shivers but Rangiku looks worse for wear but isn't bleeding, has no black eyes....the damage seems too little to incite Gin to this elaborate plan but if it were the other way, it would make sense. Who knows. Either way, Gin did it for her. The way it ended though Gin's not lookin' so hot..

I totally believe this. I think this is what Aizen was referring to when he stated to Urahara that he learned/knew more about the hougyoku than he did. Aizen was testing the powers of it on various test subjects. There are probably other people in the Bleach universe that he's used the hougyoku on beside those we know.
_debbiechan_: GIN_debbiechan_ on August 4th, 2010 07:16 pm (UTC)

That was all definitely disturbing.

And while Gin's gotten the flashback of doom, I can't imagine him dying without Kira there or without some of these timeline questions about the hougyoku being addressed (does Rangiku even understand anything about the orb? Would she want to know that Gin did anything on her behalf--and then again how much DID he do for her? If he was her avenger that doesn't discount a lot of his sadism and evil ways--even as I recall what manonlechat said in the spoiler thread: DUDE THOUGH... I WROTE THIS THEORY MONTHS AGO ON GINRAN THAT WHAT IF GIN'S FEAR OF DEATH STEMMED FROM A FEAR OF NOT BEING ABLE TO PROTECT RANGIKU CUZ REMEMBER HIS WORDS TO RUKIA ON THE BRIDGES THAT BEING AFRAID OF OTHERS DYING MAKES YOU AFRAID FOR YOURSELF???? )

WHAT THE HELL WERE THOSE GUYS UP TO? If anyone wants to think that rape is too much for a shounen, I can think of ones where it was implied--the debated child rape of Vegeta by Frieza in DBZ and a very horrible one in Peacemaker Kurogane. I don't know if that's why Gin set out to get Aizen--that seems like a romantic motive for an ordinary child to devote his life to killing a person and certainly adds depth to what appeared to be kid-Gin's psycho killing of that Shinigami third seat, but....

how much does this really take away from the snakey Gin so many people are complaining about? I see the kitsune Syn was telling me about last week--the one who moves us into other realms. I see depth added here. Gin is still that smiling villain but didn't we all already suspect his feelings for Rangiku?

I'm honestly moved.

And as for the art in the chapter--I was expecting to laugh at butterfly Aizen but the images of Aizen going down and screaming gripped me. It was intense after all. Granted, the big butterfly isn't the creepiest thing I've seen in Bleach but this angel vision with a cross in its chest is sure going to look glorious in its ultimate battle with demon!Ichigo!

Gin, don't die.
Catwoman & bitch extraordinaireelfishscallywag on August 4th, 2010 07:30 pm (UTC)
what appeared to be kid-Gin's psycho killing of that Shinigami third seat

You're making me think, what if that third seat was the guy whose face was highlighted from that group Aizen was meeting in the forest? There's got to be a reason why only that guy's face was really shown, why Gin focused on him.
And this is probably happening when Aizen's still Shinji's fukutaicho, so it'd make sense the third seat's doing stuff for Aizen.

That would explain Gin killing him so coldy, which really creeped me out when I first read that. But if he was the one to rape Ran/beat her up, that would definitely explain it...

Also, LOL. Oh Aizen. You just keep on going with the Lady Gaga clothes and now you look... holy or something with all that light.

Aizen Kubo really liked Gaga's Alejandro video methinks. I fully expect butterflAizen to be donning some stilettos next.

I'm just dying with sadness here. I can't make jokes even about butterfly Aizen.

This is GinRan. This is the moment they met. And Kubo-sensei planned this.

Look at the original pic: http://manga.bleachexile.com/bleach-chapter-129-page-2.html

The background--the house is clearly burnt like it is on page 18 of this chapter: http://mangastream.com/read/bleach/42115567/18

It's when they met. And Gin gave her persimmons. And did he tell her a pretty lie when she woke up to cover up the fact that he knew she had been attacked?

I don't know.

My heart hurts. :(

Running on Coffee and Schadenfreude: [Bleach] Heterosexual anal in my fandom?arcadiasilver on August 4th, 2010 07:44 pm (UTC)
I think that, mostly due to the periodic nature of chapter releases, people are letting frustrations with Aizen's invincibility get the better of them. They want flaws, they want Aizen to have a chink in the armor. Something to bring him down to level, at least a little bit, right?

I think that's Kubo's point. Aizen has become so far removed from humanity and the things that comprise that that he is no longer human. He is a textbook sociopathic villain, much like Hannibal in Silence of the Lambs. As his external appearance becomes more monstrous and alien, we begin to see just how inhuman Aizen was internally from the start. While we toss around the term "monster" and "thing" with Ichigo's new hollowfied form, its very clear who is the true monster here.

And now we can add Rangiku AND Gin to the long list of people that Aizen has manipulated along his way to godhood. Stepping back a bit, its startling to realize that almost nobody in this series has not been used or hurt by Aizen in some form. Soul Society, the Vizard, the Nakama. Even Urahara. Even the splash damage of his actions leave victims in its wake.

There is no coincidence that Kubo chose now - while Ichigo is wrestling with his identity, humanity, and state of his soul - to come to this point in the story and show us this. Ichigo may have a potentially terrible power inside of him, something that he fears, but in the end he (will) wield that power to fulfill his destiny to protect. Aizen's power has overwhelmed him and transformed him into something harrowing.

All that being said, I have only one thing to conclude this post with:

Thank you and good night

HAHAHA yeah! We have Aizen as a full and NOT fragile moth butterfly and the Hougyoku not being able to be stolen, because its part of Aizen's soul already. Man he looked so grotesque there for a few minutes. Scary villain you! and of course, Kubo makes us hate someone for so long (at least I didn't like Gin all that much at all :P ) and then, at the end, gives him a noble cause. Poor Rangiku san T____T. She looks badly hurt. What kind of freaky experimentation were they doing with her ;___;. Bastards!
I really hope for Gin's sake he planned that betrayal a bit better. I can't believe that THAT is the end of him... But his back-story was starting to be shown, so he might be dead pretty soon :( ... Damn cliff-hanger!!!
If Gin wanted to really end Aizen's life why didn't he do it earlier, when Aizen was not that powerful?, he might've been more successful back then, than waiting for him to be as strong as he is now.
peca_06peca_06 on August 4th, 2010 08:33 pm (UTC)
I forgot to add... IF the "noble cause" that Gin was pursuing has something to do with Ran being assaulted, then he has giving up too much of himself to "pretend" to be allies with Aizen, etc... Like Tousen, he is too far out in his idea of "justice" to be redeemed. He has done many horrible deeds on this journey. We need more information about Gin though. So far it has been intriguing... Sensei hasn't giving all his secrets yet and I can't wait to see more.

Guildy here. Holy shit, is Kubo implying here what I think he's implying, Deb?

Because wow.

Edit: And if all Gin has been doing up to now is to get revenge on Aizen and his flunkies for what they did, does he torment Rukia in a kind of bizarre reverse commentary on what he has become in order to take his revenge? If everything he's done up till now was to get back at Aizen/his men for hurting Rangiku, then as he's hurting Rukia and spurring Ichigo on, is he making some kind of commentary on himself? Was it to build Ichigo up, or did he do it for the lulz? There's some kind of bizarre duality here, and I'm scrambling to put my finger on the exact nature of it; but it IS there.

I said in a previous post today that 'Does this mean Gin is just a creepier Ichigo' and I'm starting to wonder how right my knee-jerk reaction was.

Commentary on this, please.
