Little Tweetstorm

There seems to have been a minor craziness in fandom yesterday over some of Kubo's tweets and the concern that he had just found out about scanlations or early spoilers and people were afraid that Kubo was going to block foreigners' access to the Bleach manga before the translated volumes came out in their respective countries.

False alarm.

First this post from Zangetsu01 at Bleach Asylum should reassure everyone of some basic facts about how spoilers work in Japan and abroad.

Second, lennan  translated the tweets in question. It seems that Kubo was concerned about foreigners on his twitter giving out spoilers about a chapter yet to be released in Japan as they were conversing with him. He blocked those tweeters.

The tweets go from most recent first:

とりあえずこの件に関してはこれで終 了ってことでお願いします。このままだと今朝までの返信欄が全部流れちゃう(笑)。
(For now, in relation to this matter, please end it like it is. As it is, the wall of replies all will flow until this morning (laughs).)

ブロックしました!しても読む方法はあ るみたいだけど、マナー違反に気付いてもらうためにも。みなさん色々情報ありがとう!
(It’s blocked! Although it was done, there seems to still be a way to read it, due also to being aware of breaches of etiquette. Thanks everyone for all the information.)

いや、発売前のジャンプのこと書いてる外国の子がいて、それ他の人が見れるな らその子ブロックしようかと思ってんだけど。
(No, there are foreign kids who write about Jump before its sale date, if other people can see that, then I thought let’s block those kids’ blogs….)

皆さんに質問なんだけど、ツイッターっで俺に返信書いた人って、他の人が俺に 書いた返信読めたりすんのかな。
(This is a question for everyone: would people who send me messages through twitter, not read the messages other people send me?)

eta from lennan:

And for good measure, since I missed this one:

(Well, the rude people will probably change their ID and write again, but that's that. Things like this they are probably only dealt with individually.)

I had a bit of trouble with that last sentence, I think he means by in a case by case basis, but I don't really seeing this in the same batch as the other two on my twitter feed. He's not so gung-ho about shutting down scans as much as spammers, I think.

eta from debbie: as for the quote "Kubo is angry" that some people have been seeing quoted along with a translation of a tweet, those words were a comment added to the tweet by someone on 2ch--maybe the same person who was doing the lame troll job spamming Kubo about spoiler sites. Kubo himself never said that he was angry.
