Aizen and Yamamoto's discussion is interesting here. If nothing else it sure gives us a great look into what an egotistic douche Aizen is.

Remember, if you will, the Nel/Nnoitra flashback. They were fighting a village of NON-Aizen followers. Those were Arrancar who had shed their masks by their own hand and wanted to live beyond Aizen's control. Aizen's response? Kill the ants who wouldn't join the fold. Yeah, WAY to give those Arrancar meaning Aizen. Heck, just think of Lillynette and Starrk and their reason: to find friends. Aizen HELPED them, but he didn't GIVE them that meaning.

Of course, the thought strikes me that Aizen DID provide many of those lost souls with a reason, but from the way he goes about you'd think he's the ONLY one who can give them that reason. He thinks himself God, and the Arrancar HIS creations, HIS servants who only HE can give reason to. Any Arrancar who AREN'T his creation, who goes their own way beyond his designs? Shall be wiped off the face of Hueco Mundo.

That aside- this was a decent fight. It served a purpose and did so within a reasonable time-limit. It made captain Grandpa look badass while still taking him out of commission (or at the very least crippled him), and gave us some more character insight. At the start I feared Yamamoto was going to go out like a punk (like the captains) but he stood his ground and gave an impressive show. Then in this chapter I feared he had picked up Shinji's idiot ball by throwing himself into the explosion since he was willing to sacrifice himself just a few minutes ago, but it was a justified action so I'm cool with it.

Besides, we actually got to see Aizen get HURT. I have wished for so long to see a crack in his invincible Superman-facade, and I got it. I'm going to be moderately cool with any other ass-pulls he makes from now on, because at the very least I know the guy can be HURT now. And no, not buying Ichigo finishing him off after this. The battle may change, but it won't end just yet.

I'm just stopping by to say I love this comment. Thank you for pointing out so clearly how much of a liar Aizen is... also, this sentence:

"If nothing else it sure gives us a great look into what an egotistic douche Aizen is."

Isn't Unohana supposed to be with Ichigo? She should make her move now!! I'm getting awful sad for Yama-jii ._. TT_TT

And, and, Kubo himself said that Urahara and Isshin would be of great use in the future parts of the arc! I hope they also make their appearance soon...

There's still hope for the Gotei!!
