Episode 253: Thoughts?
I'm just going to say it now....

Everyone, GET OUT. GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT!!!! Orihime just COMPLETELY DEFLECTED A CERO. I’m not an Orihime fan, but I almost just cried with joy there. (Twice, now!)

Secondly, HAHAHAHAHA flying Menos Grande!!!

Third, OMG NAKAMA FIGHTING TOGETHER. This is the best day of my life!

Fourth... Sode no Shirayuki's back! This entire episode is basically made of win and made for CAPS ABUSE!!!

ETA: Sorry that my first post here is really, really fangirl-y.

I literally JUST finished watching the episode. I liked it - a lot of it was boring fighting menos stuff but there was some excellent parts. I was dying to see Rukia fight (of course, she didn't) but it was SO AWESOME to see Orihime actually DO SOMETHING! She was all, "I have to go save Ichigo & Muramasa!" never mind the bajillion Menos Grande walking around. Not an Orihime fan either, but it was nice seeing Orihime like her old self.

My jaw dropped when Sode no Shirayuki appeared. The look on Rukia's face is just so adorable. ...And will you look at that, Matsumoto and Haineko are getting along!!

And from the looks of the teaser for next week's episode we might be getting a little more Kira and Renji & Zabimaru, which makes me happy. :)

STFU!!! Must watch:)

Well, to be honest...

The only thing that I really liked about this episode was the return of Sode no Shirayuki. The rest was all like... "ok, wow, beams and crap, did I accidentally download an episode of DBZ?"

Because it wasn't so spectacular, it was just a whole lot of reiatsu flying everywhere...

And I guess that Bleach episodes really just bore me at this point... I've watched 253 of them now...

Though I was surprised when Orihime deflected the cero, it was more of a "she shouldn't be able to do that, so that's pretty stupid" kind of thing. Well, from what I recall, her shield has always just been weak. I might be forgetting something though...

Oh well. Anyways, SnS is awesome! Although I really didn't like the "the cavalry has arrived" moment at the end. So cliche. Everyone's in a pinch, so some huge mob of people all of a sudden bails them out. I wanted to see SnS kick some butt. After being broken like that, she needs to show some spirit, alongside Rukia.

Cause even though Rukia's powers are not spectacular at all, I would still like to see her fight alongside SnS.

You might be saying "what? but SnS's powers are Rukia's powers" but that's not exactly what I mean.

Rukia's dances are so much less powerful, and other than that she only really ever uses Soukatsui, the occasional Souren Soukatsui, and maybe some Shakkaho.

And it's getting really old at this point.

Whereas SnS has been quite powerful... And she has a much wider variety of things she can do with her ice powers...

PS. Yeah, this has largely just been complaining. I'm not in the best of moods right now, for some reason. I think it's because I'm just getting so tired of... Well, that's a rant for another time.

I 100% agree with this. Huge disappointment was huge--though not unexpected.

It was like. ZzzzzzzzzzzZZZzzzzZZZzzzz--WAH?! Sode no Shirayuki?! ZOMG! *__*

That was the only thing I liked about the episode. That, and when Ichigo said to Byakuya "So you won?" And Byakuya's like, "Did you expect me to lose?" and Ichi's like, "You look like Hell is all I'm sayin'"

ahhh <33

And yes, the cavalry has arrived was a BAD MOVE on part of the animators. And to think it was going SO WELL too, what with the timing and pacing of all the characters reappearing.

And wtc, Haineko and Matsumoto are suddenly chummychummy. THIS IS NEW.

All I'm looking forward to next episode is the undoubtedly awesome Senbonzakura/Sode no Shirayuki reunion. I want to see her freezing him into an iceblock. Yes.

The only thing that bugs me is Orihime's behavior. I don't get why she feels like it's her duty to rid Muramasa of his 'evilness.' Her actions annoyed me somehow.

Overall, very nice episode. I'm glad to see Shirayuki again.

About Orihime: Yes. It irritated me too. I just don't get it.

And yes, SnS is awesome. =D

pfffft, Ichigo's hero complex rubbed off on her. It was BOUND to happen.

I decided to take the story as after the HM arc and Orihime is showing lingering guilt/trauma at being unable to save Ulquiorra.

Since she couldn't save him, she trying to save someone else who's in despair.

Now that's an interesting theory I reckon.

Well, at least she's trying to do something.

This. But she tend to bug me in general so I'm used to it *lol*

This ep was saved by Byakuya looking hot. Again. And his line to Senbonzakura about "talking to much" just killed me *draws sparkly hearts around them*

Looking forward to next week's ep ;-)

Eh, didn't like this episode too much. I felt that Rukia's character was completely well....out of character. She would never run from a Menos Grande. Really, it's almost absurd. She doesn't run. Period. She didn't run from Yammy's zero transformation, she didn't run from the many hollow fights that Ichigo and her went through when she was still stuck in a gigai without Sode no Shirayuki...she just doesn't run.

I feel like the anime producers were heavily favoring Orihime, which mildly irritated me, because it felt like they squashed Rukia's character flat to make Orihime stand out. Ergh. >_> All in all, the only part of this whole episode that I liked was Senbonzakura supporting Byakuya, Ishida's bug spray (XD), and Sode no Shirayuki's appearance.

About Rukia: This is something that they do a lot in fillers I think. They just don't know what to do with her.

Actually, this is very true - however, I'm just otherwise easily impressed or, I should probably just say, easily distracted by flashing beams and whatnot. ^^;;

I felt that Rukia's character was completely well....out of character.

This. I mean, I quite like Rukia but even that annoyed me. I really do believe that no-one's sure of what to do with her in fillers, and it's annoying because it makes people think she's lame, which she's really not ¬_¬

For me, this (and the last) ep was totally about Byakuya/Senbonzakura *grin*

The reason she had to fall-back (I wouldn't call it running away) is because she didn't have Sode no Shirayuki back by that time--just her kidou powers. By Bleach standards, being able to take one out, even with your zpt, is supposed to be impressive, if you harken back to the old days and how it took the combo powers to Ichigo and Ishida just to make a MG retreat.

Though she was attempting to fight them earlier with Ichigo, I can only assume that she was running out of energy at that point and in order to protect Inoue and herself, they needed to run to another location.

Well, It's a filler, so really what can be expected? buuuuuutttt...

SODE NO freakin SHIRAYUKI!!!!!!

Her face was so badass at the end, and Rukia looked adorkable, I just hope they explain how she came back, if she was ever really killed ya' know...

I loved Orihime in this ep! I wish she always deflected ceros and helped people!
_debbiechan__debbiechan_ on January 14th, 2010 11:07 am (UTC)

I agree! And Rukia actually had to pull her away from danger because she wanted to help some more! THIS IS NOT THE ORIHIME OF THE MANGA!

I actually really liked this episode and I like these fillers XD /dodges bullets

but hehe, Orihime seems to grow fond over the baddies dont'cha think? Who wouldn't haha. But she's an endearing character, and I actually never was a fan of hers up til recently. It's nice to see that she actually gets to do something, even if its not something grand.

She deserves a pat on the back.

I have to admit it was a bit *yawn* episode for me. Orihime was almost irritating. Sode no Shirayuki never really seemed interesting to me, so her return only got a weak yay from me, and that was mostly because if she's back, then I might hope for the return of Ukitake's cute twins.
catseye2001catseye2001 on January 14th, 2010 04:17 pm (UTC)
Well, they can't change anything major in the filler episodes, can they? I assume everyone's zanpakatou's will return. And although I'd have to go back and watch it over, didn't they only say that it was possible that they would not return if killed in their manifested forms? (And didn't Zaraki whack Wabisuke, also? I noticed he was there with Izuru.)

I kind of liked the cavalry thing at the end because just a minute or two before that I had said, "What the heck is everyone else doing? This Muramasa guy waltzed into Soul Society, screwed up their zanpakatous, caused mass destruction and injury, kidnapped Yama-jii, and now it's basically the Kuchikis and the real-world (mostly zanpakatou-less) core group going after them? Where's the damned cavalry!?!" And then, "bam!" there they were. Although the 3 old guys are still MIA. I guess they have cleanup to handle back in Seireitei.

Orihime always annoys me, but what annoys me about her the most is the way that (filler or not) she fluctuates so erratically between being useful to the point of endangering herself and being useless to the point of endangering everyone else. That alone makes her a huge liability.

:) The flying Menos were great! I loved the Menos feet--they made me think of Ichigo's picture-idea of chopping them down until you reach the head.

And Senbonzakura is probably the only person (being?) who would get off with a simple, "you talk too much" after the comment he made to Byakuya. I love those two. So much win I suffer a win overdose every time I see them. (At least, that's my excuse for staring at the screen wide-eyed and unblinking until it shows something else!)

End of my thoughts. I sleep now.

pony_rocks: pic#84544780pony_rocks on January 14th, 2010 04:24 pm (UTC)
Ah, right. I meant it in the sense that they will return on screen, not that they will be lost forever because they were killed.

Byakuya gains a whole new dimension with Senbonzakura. :D
arcadianblissarcadianbliss on January 15th, 2010 03:36 pm (UTC)
Orihime is a little over-the-top really. But besides that, I love the chemistry between Bya & Senbon...gives us something new to see Bya as!(:I love the "you talk too much"...to me it's a slightly speechless Bya unused to Senbon's compliments (if I didn't remember wrongly) and knowing that his Zanpakuto will und what he's trying to get at, while others might think Bya was being rude. <3

More!zanpakuto allies! And shinigami:D I do want to see the top 4 - Unohana, ama-jii, Shunsui & Ukitake's !
tamzin: yoruichiSAMAAAconquistadora on January 15th, 2010 06:10 pm (UTC)
Daaayumm FillerHime, why you tryin to steal the show? XDD I love it, I really do. Not just, "I have to help Kurosaki-kun" but "I have to help Kurosaki-kun and Muramasa-san" ffffff Amazing.

Though it sort of makes my heart hurt a little that Mura is getting all this attention from her. Pierrot better know something that I don't about the future. :C

Everyone showing up at the end was pretty cheesy. XD But it was nice to see Sode again, at the least.

Omake was pure win, of course. I don't think I'll ever love anyone as much as Omake!Ishida, though. Whoever writes these things should be given an award.
